Make a list of things that are lacking in your wardrobe and carry it with you when you go shopping. This will enable you to focus on what you actually need to buy. Avoid going window shopping when you have free time to spare as this will only tempt you into buying impulsively and possibly getting yourself into debt.

It is important to know the rules of wearing clothes that are right for your body shape and which colours suit you. This makes it easier for you when skimming for clothes in each shop and finding items that suit you and avoiding that don't.

Rule 3; 
Set yourself a shopping budget and ensure that you stick to it as this will enable you to avoid overspending recklessly.

Rule 4;
Take a friend or family member who would tell you the truth about what suits you. Avoid asking for the sales person opinion as their job is to tempt you into buying by flattering your ego.

Rule 5;
Ensure that you take a lunch break as you are more bound to make wild and needy choices if you shop when you are really hungry. Avoid eating anything that bloats you as shopping on a fat day will lower your self esteem and leave you with bags of disappointment.
