Q. How would you describe your professional interests?

I am really passionate about creating beautiful images and enjoy the challenge of putting together an idea, a team and creating interesting images. My work tends to be quite glossy and commercial looking, which I hope will lend itself to more advertorial and high end fashion editorials as I develop in the future. I try to bring an energy and connection to the viewer within the images I create and build a story into my work.
Q.What's your background in photographing? When and why did you get started?

I actually began taking photos when my dad gave me his old Fuji camera when I was moving to Greece in 2002. Since then, I took it everywhere with me and was constantly taking the opportunity to take pictures and also experimented with very basic editing! I invested in my first semi-professional camera a few years later - a Canon 400D and this really fueled my interest further. When I met my Partner Stan, he helped me to develop my skills and that’s when I really began to take it seriously and made the decision for a career and life change!

Q.What has been your favourite job?

I would say one of my most memorable and significant shoots so far would be ‘A Wedding Tale’, just because this was the first major shoot production I had organised and involved a team of professional creatives, a vintage car and a Scottish castle - no pressure!! I was really nervous and anxious to get great results for the team, who had all agreed to collaborate without a fee, since it was a college project. The day was amazing, the results were beautiful and to top it all off, we managed to get it published in a local magazine, so it really was a memorable and fantastic shoot for us!

Q.Who are some of your favourite photographers, and why?

There are so many! I absolutely love Solve Sundsbo, who for me is a master of imagination and merging photography and art, to create really stunning imagery. I also love Melissa Rodwell’s work, which is absolutely beautiful and inspired. Mert & Marcus are also masters of creating glossy and striking fashion images.

Q.Which magazines, websites, blogs, and catalogues do you visit most often?

I pick up a variety of magazines, from Vogue to Dazed & Confused and Pop, as I like to take inspiration from a variety of sources. Online, I like to check out Flawless Magazine, institute Magazine and fashion Gone Rogue for inspiration and the latest fashion imagery.
Q.How would you describe your photography?

My work has quite a glossy and polished feel to it, I think and a certain amount of energy and movement in some of the images. I like to collaborate with a variety of different people and I also have a lot of input into the styling of the images. I will continue experimenting in the future and hopefully develop my style further.

Q.What is fun and rewarding about being a photographer?

What I really love about fashion photography, is that there are no boundaries. I have quite an active imagination, so I love that I can use that to create interesting ideas and images. I also love working with teams of amazing creative people, who make the whole experience so inspiring and so much fun. Being on a shoot, is the most electric atmosphere - a dream career!

Q. What type of photography do you enjoying shooting the most?

We do shoot a variety of different things on a day to day basis and my partner focuses more on the general commercial jobs. I enjoy shooting everything, since each job brings different experiences and challenges, but for me fashion and beauty are what I am really passionate about.

Q. What distinguishes a good photograph from a bad one?

That is quite a complex question! There are so many factors to consider - the light, the composition, the posing, editing and yet rules can so often be pushed and broken to create interesting and unexpected results. Also beauty really is in the eye of the beholder - one person’s beauty is another person’s beast!

Q. What advice do you have for aspiring photographers?

I think it is important to work hard and focus on your own goals. It is really easy to become disheartened and feel overwhelmed by the incredible amount of fantastic work out there when you're just starting out. So keeping positive and staying focused on your own goals, rather than comparing yourself to everyone else I think is important.
